Valentine’s day seems to put the emphasis on your love for that special someone in your life. But how do you celebrate YOURSELF as that special someone in your life? There seems to be a guilt aspect associated with self-gifting or with indulging a little more than usual by treating yourself. More people are realizing that is old school behavior, and it just shouldn’t be the case.
5 sweet ways to practice a little self-love without the guilt:
Say I love you. Repeat this mantra, “I love myself, and I will take care of myself. ” Do this to remind yourself that SELF LOVE comes first. Before you can fully spread love to others, openly embrace self-love affirmations like this (or make your own self love mantra).
REALLY follow your heart. Write down a list of goals you want to crush, cross them off as you go, and then reward yourself as you choose. But please, don’t just envision your dreams, live them. And if something won’t matter in five years, it’s probably not worth worrying more than five minutes about it.
Start doing more of what makes you HAPPY. Whether it’s going for a run, binge watching your favorite show on Netflix, getting a nice hair blowout, if it makes you happy, then do it more often--go ahead, and indulge.
Treat yourself. If you earned it; you deserve it, and DO NOT feel guilty about whatever it is because that defeats the purpose. Treat yourself to that handbag or piece of jewelry that you’ve been saving up for, and can’t stop thinking about.
Spread this self love blog to motivate a bestie. It’s the little things that our loved ones remember, so reach out to your biggest supporters to let them know that you appreciate his or her friendship. Inspire them to practice some self love too! (by clicking on shareable link below)
